EPerks to Vlad: I'm Gonna Pound You!

Well, it seems we're not so far removed from the days of the schoolyard bully. Today, Vlad Zablotskyy, author the blog at Go Beyond MLS, posted that he received a very tersely worded cease and desist letter from ePerks demanding that he remove all posts from his blog making any reference to that company's rather distasteful dealings with its realtor clients. While I was able to find a host of references, both good and bad, on the Internet about ePerks, only Vlad's blog and a couple others were told to take down the negative posts. You might think that if a company has a good reputation, is conducting business responsibly and is truly interested in creating good will with their client base, they just might want to hear both the good and the bad about their operations. That's how businesses improve, by listening to the negatives said about them and correcting them fast, the faster the better. However, ePerks seems to want to subscribe to the Nurse Ratched School of Business Conduct by backing Vlad into the proverbial corner, cocking their pudgy little fist and demanding the lunch money, or else.

What tripe.

I, for one, remember reading those posts last year and because of them I went to ePerk's web site to see what the hubbub was. I remember thinking that 130 bucks a month for one zip code was a little into the high rent district, poked around a little more, and then left the site, never to return. Now we don't claim to be the greatest realtors of all time, but The Harriman Team does alright, and nary an ePerk to be seen in our little corner of the world, thank you. And if I had signed up and ePerks was doing to me what they're doing - have done - to Vlad, I'd be one mighty unhappy camper, too.

I hope that somewhere in the real estate world there's a R. P. McMurphy who can come make some sense out of this mess, pick up Billy Bibbit by the collar and take him from this asylum. Then, maybe we can smugly say, "Take that, Ratched".
